Top Favorite Board Games In No Particular Order
Jordan (2020) - Apparently this game has held up for 5 years!!
Let's make a Potion!
Quacks of Quedlinberg is a fantastic game for anyone - whether you're playing with a group of friends or family, young or old.
Each turn you'll be drawing potion ingredients from a bag and adding them to the potion your brewing - the more ingredients, the more powerful the potion and the more money you'll get to add new ingredients to your bag!
But watch out! Some of the ingredients explode if you have too many of them!
This is the key decision every round of the game - are you safe to draw out one more ingredient? Is it worth the risk of exploding and losing your potion for the round??
Because if you had just one more lucky draw, your potion would be that much better.... :-)
Jordan's favorite memory of this game:
My brother brought Quacks of Quedlinberg on our last family vacation, after I had passed it up for a year thinking that it looked too odd.
I was so wrong, this game is fantastic!
We ended up playing it almost every day, multiples times a day, with whoever was around when we started setting it up.
Sometimes it would be all adults, trying to outplay each other and find new strategies to win.
Other times my nieces and nephews would jump in and we would all be pushing our luck like crazy, almost always adding more ingredients until we ended up exploding!
Regardless of who was playing, or how competitive we were being, every game we played was a ton of fun and Quacks is my go-to recommendation for anyone looking for a new family game this year.

Mistborn: The Deckbuilding Game

Trevor
I'm a huge Sanderson fan, and it's really fun to look at all the card mechanics and art to see what they are referencing from the books. All the references are cool, but it's also a solid game that I've pulled out many times since purchasing.
Trevor's favorite memory of this game:
Playing as Kelsier, and being given the 'Target' while you have a huge attack ready is extremely satisfying. Normally on your turn you have to attack the person with the target, but if it's your turn and you have it, you hit everyone!
Recommended for anyone who loves:
Card Games - (Scum, Dalmuti, Uno, etc...)
Deck Building Games - (Dominion, Legendary, Mystic Vale, etc...)
Strategy Games - (Stone Age, Agricola, Terra Mystica, Scythe, etc...)
This game is great for:
Family Game Night
Board Game Night (Friends/Other Gamers)
Couples / Game Night with your BFF
2025 has been a year of embracing simple games for me, and no game can capture that better than Burum. It's made by an indie game designer company, their very first one on the market, and it's probably my favorite 'first game' to come out of a studio in a long time.
Simply put, you're trying to shed your deck and avoid drawing unnecessary cards, and this is the first time I've seen something take on the 'Uno-like' genre and make something really engaging. The game is incredibly simple, but there are a lot of layered strategies beneath the surface that you don't see until you've played several times. It's a great game to play with kids, family, and non-gamers alike.
Abi's favorite memory of this game:
Once I revealed my hidden cards (Even I didn't know what cards they were) in an attempt to play them, and it turns out all of them were the powerful 'Sweep' cards that can be played on anything. I went from losing the game to winning in a single turn!
Recommended for anyone who loves:

Party Games - (Telestrations, Code Names, Apples to Apples, etc...)

Camel Up

Camel Up brilliantly captures that "anything could happen" feeling with simple rules and pieces. The ways the camels pile up and carry each other while moving are hard to plan around and shake things up dramatically between rounds, leading to a lot of engaging moments and unlikely finishes.
Arrow's favorite memory of this game:
One of the actions a player can take during their turn involves placing a tile on a space of the racetrack that will move any camel that lands on it one space in either direction. It can be very fun to set up chain reactions that really mix things up or just get enough control to swing things to your benefit. My favorite moment playing the game is when I had done so in a way that caused a stack of about 4 camels to end atop the back of the black camel. This completely turned the game around as the black camel carried most of them quite a few spaces back, causing the camels that had been lagging behind to end up in first and eventually win the game!
