Top Favorite Board Games In No Particular Order
Trio

Jordan (2025)
Do you ever wish that Go Fish was actually fun?
Enter Trio - a game about assembling 3 sets of 3 matching cards, using cards from the middle of the table, other players hands, and of course your own cards.
Here's the trick(s) to the game - everyone has to keep their cards in order from highest to lowest, you can only ask to see someone's highest or lowest card, and you only get to make a set of 3 if your first two reveals match.
Easy enough for young players, challenging enough that my siblings and dad will all join in for several rounds in a row, this game was an instant hit this year.
Jordan's favorite memory of this game:
I've only had one night of Trio so far, with more to come over the next couple weeks I'm sure. BUT apparently if you get a set of 7s you instantly win the game, and so of course every time I felt I was on the brink of victory someone would sneak out a set of 7s, which was so frustrating but also so fun to see someone come from behind to win the game more than once.

Wyrmspan

Lindy
I enjoyed Wingspan the first time I played it, but Wyrmspan really took it to the next level for me. I feel like there was more variety in the game play as well as it being a touch more strategic. Plus dragons. Dragons are sick!
Lindy's favorite memory of this game:
My brother and sister in law are more TCG and video game players than they are board gamers, but I got them to play it with me and they enjoyed it so much they bought their own copy!

Lord of the Rings: Duel for Middle Earth

Fans of 7-wonders Duel will fall in love with this Lord of the Rings version that introduces new mechanics and fantastic art. Winning requires you to meet one of these conditions: unite the races, conquer middle earth, or bring the ring to Mordor (or capture the ring bearers if you're playing as the forces of Sauron). You must choose and change your strategy to ensure victory.
Spencer's favorite memory of this game:
Very quickly after demo-ing this game at Salt Con, a convention where experienced board gamers thrive, I realized that the strategy that I thought was best was losing me games! I mimicked the more seasoned board gamers strategy and drafted different cards early and I started winning games!

Duel for Cardia

It feels a lot like Libertalia but built specifically for two people. You both have the same cards in your deck. Each turn is just playing a card and if you have a higher value you "win" that fight, you need 5 wins to win the game. The twist is that each card has special abilities that ONLY activate in fights that they lose. There are fun combos and lots of interplay and each card your opponent plays has you thinking about what could possibly be coming next from them.
Zach's favorite memory of this game:
The highest power card in the game has an ability that says you win the game, but that can only activate if it "loses" its fight, which is quite difficult to manage with it being the highest power card. Whenever I have it in my hand I'm always thinking of ways to make its ability happen, even if that means I lose the game going for it.
