Top Favorite Board Games In No Particular Order
Jordan Bird
Quacks of Quedlinberg is a fantastic game for anyone - whether you're playing with a group of friends or family, young or old.
Each turn you'll be drawing potion ingredients from a bag and adding them to the potion your brewing - the more ingredients, the more powerful the potion and the more money you'll get to add new ingredients to your bag!
But watch out! Some of the ingredients explode if you have too many of them!
This is the key decision every round of the game - are you safe to draw out one more ingredient? Is it worth the risk of exploding and losing your potion for the round??
Because if you had just one more lucky draw, your potion would be that much better.... :-)
Jordan's favorite memory of this game:
My brother brought Quacks of Quedlinberg on our last family vacation, after I had passed it up for a year thinking that it looked too odd.
I was so wrong, this game is fantastic!
We ended up playing it almost every day, multiples times a day, with whoever was around when we started setting it up.
Sometimes it would be all adults, trying to outplay each other and find new strategies to win.
Other times my nieces and nephews would jump in and we would all be pushing our luck like crazy, almost always adding more ingredients until we ended up exploding!
Regardless of who was playing, or how competitive we were being, every game we played was a ton of fun and Quacks is my go-to recommendation for anyone looking for a new family game this year.
Recommended for anyone who loves:
Family Games - (Catan, Ticket to Ride, etc...)
This game is great for:
Family Game Night
Board Game Night
Holiday Get Togethers
Babysitting or playing with Kids
Coup
I love any game that includes deception and manipulation. Coup may be the most fitting for players who like this kind of game play. You must make difficult decisions on your turns to obtain resources, stop others from getting resources, and everything in between!
Spencer's favorite memory of this game:
When I first played this game, my opponent was a little too confident in his characters abilities and went strongly on the defensive. By the end of the game, after playing patiently, I had both of my cards face down while he had one of his turned face up (if both are turned face up you lose the game). He had used his resources too late, and I was able to use mine to knock him out. If felt really good to see my patience pay off!
Recommended for anyone who loves:

Party Games - (Telestrations, Code Names, Apples to Apples, etc...)

Couples / Game Night with your BFF
The Red Dragon Inn has become my all-time favorite board game in the course of the last 1 1/2 years. It's a game that doesn't take itself seriously and is best played sub-optimally, so the group really needs to have the right vibe to make it great. That being said, this game has the highest density of absurdity, back-stabbing, and banter of any game I've played. RDI also scratches my collector itch with the insane amount of characters they've released for the game. I've collected all of them except for Spyke and Flower (anyone have those for sale? message me on discord and we can work something out)
Brock's favorite memory of this game:
A rule I implement any time I play this game is every player must read the title of every card they play (e.g. "Pull My Finger!"). I also highly encourage players to read the cards in their character's voice. When everyone follows those rules, it makes for an incredibly fun and silly game every time. My friend Cam loves to play as The Lich King and always sprinkles in his best Skeletor laugh, it's weirdly good and it always makes everyone else laugh too.
